I've been trying to stretch the prize support out over the past few months since D&D Miniatures skirmish game has been set aside by Wizards.  I will try to order another pack for November, but after that I think I will stop ordering it because it has little to do with D&D Miniatures directly and its hard to split a book up among 8 players.  One $30 book use to be 2 boosters with 8 figures in each, now that single prize is getting kinda expensive and its really hard to split across all participants.

I could start purchasing a case from a DDM vendor and just have every participant chip in a few bucks per tournament, but even that isn't financially feasible when only 5 minis come in a booster.  I would project that paying $120 for a case with 40 miniatures isn't really a bargain when it would result in 8 players having to come up with about $15 each (a**uming we had 8 players per event)  Then at the end of each tournament (a**uming 3) we would only be putting 8-16 figures in the prize pool.  I just can't justify it personally.

Does anyone else have a better suggestion?

Ok, so January game day we will test out the player presented prize support.

I need some suggestions.

Some options

Everyone bring a booster and we can divide them up across the 3 tournaments to give out as prizes.  Everyone bring something D&D or DDM related, boosters, books, modules, counters, tiles, maps etc...

Everyone bring anything, beer, money, games, cards, miniatures, repaints (official or personal)

Everyone bring something in a box so that no-one knows what is in each package.

The last tournament we had almost 8-14 players in each event, I'm hoping we can increase that to 16 players in some event so we can get a 4 round tournament going.

Let me know your ideas on prize support.

I'll still have a few miniatures for everyone, but it might come down to rares for undefeated, uncommons for 1 loss, commons for everyone else.  We will just have to wait and see.

Manny, per the e-mail I sent you:

I think it would be easiest to simply have everyone bring a few figures, maybe something like 1 rare, 1 or 2 uncommons, 3 or so commons.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I really dislike the idea of buying boosters to bring to prize support.  I'm not sure about everyone else, but I have ENOUGH figures as it is!!!!  I don't want any more.  John and I are actually looking to probably sell or trade off about half of our collection because we simply have too much stuff.

Personally, I think that most people are probably in a similar boat, and I think people would much rather bring some figures to put into a prize pool rather than pay another $10-20 PER MATCH that they play in...
